Tuesday, 16th August....

It's catching up time again!

Life has been quite hectic lately. Bryn's son Gareth came to visit for a few days.  Bryn took him out quadding several times and he loved it. I would have had some good photos to show you but Bryn forgot to change the settings on the camera when he took it out. The last thing I photographed was close ups of jewellery so the macro was still on. The pics he took were very atmospheric, shall we say, but you couldn't tell what they were! I had to dump them. Shame.

I spent the whole day yesterday getting ready for the night market down at Vera Playa. I arrived at 7:30 p.m., set up and waited. And waited, and waited, and waited....

My friend Jen bought two pairs of earrings but the Madrilenos ignored my wares for the most part. One woman did go through most of my earring collection, physically trying each one in her ear, then walked away with nothing. Not very hygienic - I had to clean them all! I didn't get home until 2 a.m. I was overheated, exhausted and a bit depressed. Never mind! Onwards and upwards! It was very nice of Jen to let me try it out for free. I know these events can vary a lot from night to night but I'm afraid I can't afford the diesel to find out!

Still have a few things to make for C.A.T. Services. Here are some I've done so far:

I also have another shipping order from Ingebourg - at least five necklaces to make from her own beads - so I'd better get cracking!

See you later!

  1. Oh poor you. I hate when customers are so rude. I sell body/room sprays along with soaps, lotions, hats, soy candles etc. Anywho kids comes up or grandparents or parents bring kids and have them try every single spray (I have 8 of them) and then walk away and I'm stuck cleaning it all). So I've experimented putting them behind the counter but decided to put them out again the other day and a women going through menopause sprayed all the sprays all over the place and looked at everything, sniffed soaps, said it was all lovely then with her son just left. I've had it so I've put all the sprays behind the counter permanently. Sometimes parents treat the market like the zoo and something to amuse their kids and it can get so frustrating.

Hopefully you will have a good day soon.

  2. I'm back again, I think you should put up a sign telling people they cannot try on the earrings and emphasize this point. I sell next to vendor who makes jewelry and people don't try on her earrings. They just place the earring near their ear to see what it would look like. She has a mirror there so people can see what it would look like.

  3. Hi Michelle! The general public can be a pain in the arse, can't they? I think I shall take your advice about the sign. Most people just hold them up and look in the mirror but a little hint for the rest of them would be a good idea. Thanks!

  4. Yes, people are very bold and have the entitlement mentality like they have the right to do anything they want. I'm always shocked how parents handle their kids and let them run wild or shake people's tables or tents etc.
